Lapte the Pasare – Romania, Milk and egg pudding with stewed peaches

Preparation time: 30 minutes + 4 hours for cooling

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1,5l milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 220g sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of flour
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 4 halves stewed peaches


  1. Separate the whites of the eggs from the yolks.
  2. Whip the yolks together with 200g of the sugar, the flour and 1l of the milk. Put the pan on the stove, add the vanilla pod and stir until the mixture thickens. Take the vanilla out.
  3. Put thin slices of the peaches on the bottoms of beautiful glasses or cups. Put the mixture into the glasses and let it cool.
  4. Whip the egg whites together with the rest of the sugar. Boil the rest of the milk and put in it whipped egg whites balls using a spoon. Cook the balls on each side for few seconds.
  5. Put three egg whites balls in each glass and leave the dessert in a fridge for 4 hours to cool.
